WHY AMP EVCC?

An Electric Vehicle Charge Controller plays a vital role in the charging process. It controls the charging process and ensures that the battery is charged safely and efficiently.

Power is nothing without control. If you want to enable Level 3 DC Fast Charging on your vehicle, you will need to communicate with the Electrical Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) over one of the standard protocols such as CCS, ISO61851, SAE J1772, ISO15118, GB/T, or CHAdeMO.

AMP has developed an Electric Vehicle Charge Controller (EVCC) that ensures fast, reliable charging every time. Our battery charge controller helps enable Level 3 DC fast charging by establishing communication with the Electrical Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). The EVCC manages the communication protocols as well as controls the flow of energy between the EVSE and the battery.

Establishing battery communication, AMP EVCC not only makes the charging process efficient and intelligent, but also makes it extremely safe with its robust safety features. Team AMP, with their combined experience of more than 300 years, ensures that every EV charge controller is rigorously tested keeping all impacting factors into consideration.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Answered by AMP Experts

An Electric Vehicle (EV) Charge Controller is an electronic circuitry that regulates and controls the DC charging process of an electric vehicle’s battery pack. It manages the flow of electricity from the charging station or power source to the battery, ensuring safe and efficient charging.

Yes, the AMP EVCC has been tested against multiple charging stations. AMP regularly attends interoperability seminars to ensure that the EVCC communicates correctly with different charging stations and charging communication protocols.

A Charge Controller for EV is essential for the proper DC charging communication between the EV and the charging station. It manages the EV by monitoring the inlet charge terminals’ temperatures and ensuring it is locked with the charge connector for charging. It monitors when the charge connector is plugged in or not in the vehicle inlet to inform the vehicle if it needs to be stationary or not.

Yes. It supports bi-directionality (V2G) charging following ISO 15118 – 20.

AMP’s EVCC has several key features including compatibility with various charging standards such as DIN 70121, NACS, ISO 15118, IEC 61851, and SAE J1772. It can monitor both AC and DC inlet temperatures ensuring safe charging. It can also control the inlet lock and monitor its status ensuring the charging connector is secure during DC fast charging.

An EV Charge Controller also includes features such as over-voltage protection, under-voltage protection, over-current protection, temperature monitoring, charge termination algorithms, and communication interfaces. These features ensure safe and efficient charging while maximizing battery life.

The EVCC communicates with the charging station to identify the needed charge communication protocol. It relays the BMS’s requested voltage and current to the charging station. It monitors communication with the charging station and EV ensuring proper connectivity between the two and if there is any communication breach, it safely disengages the vehicle from the charging process.
